The tallest building in Alabama between 1909-1912, the Empire Building is a 16-story, 247-foot tall classical revival style skyscraper listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It is now home to the downtown headquarters of Colonial Bank. It is located two blocks northeast of the Birmingham Amtrack Station
